Stucco repair is essential if your stucco wall surface has begun to lose its original color or look. If your stucco is stained or peeling, then you should consult your contractor before attempting to patch it up yourself.
There are several types of staining that can occur on exterior walls and windows of buildings. Areas that have fallen or loosened away from the building’s frame must be properly repaired with a complete restoration project of removing the damaged material, replacing it with new construction material, and using three coats of stucco paint. If, however, you are seeing an area of discoloration on the exterior wall, but it’s not severely fading or cracking, then it may be possible to smooth out the appearance using a stucco restoration product. A stucco paint can be used over the damaged areas of the exterior wall, as well as repairing the damaged area using a stucco restoration product.
The first step for restoring the exterior wall is to identify the area in which the staining has occurred. A stucco restoration product is applied to the damaged areas of the exterior wall to restore the original color and appearance of the area. After this staining is completed, the area is then painted with exterior stucco paint. In many cases, it is not necessary to repair all of the damaged areas of the exterior wall. In these cases, only some of the damaged areas of the exterior wall will need to be repaired.
If there is still unevenness in the interior of the exterior wall, then some of the damaged areas of the exterior wall can be repaired by sanding the area. The areas of unevenness in the interior of the exterior wall can be fixed using stucco paint. Once the stucco is dry and ready to be used, the exterior wall area will look as if it was freshly stucco painted over. This type of staining on exterior walls is sometimes referred to as “stainless steel” staining.
If, however, the exterior wall still has some of the same discolorations as it had before the stucco paint was applied, then the damaged area should be repainted again. This time, the color will be uniform and the area will look like a brand new piece of the exterior wall. This is referred to as “stainless steel” staining. If the exterior wall has already been painted and is in need of restoration, then it should be removed and replaced with new construction material. If the exterior wall is in need of restoration, then the exterior wall will look like new and a new stucco layer will be applied over the top of the existing layer.
When repainting an exterior wall, stucco paint is often used along the outside of the wall, so that the area is left completely flat and smooth. If the area of the wall in need of restoration is slightly curved, then stucco paint can be used along one side of the wall, leaving the other side of the wall as it is. If the area has a very high level of curvature, then a new layer of plaster will be applied along the outside of the wall, then stucco paint will be added onto the top of the new layer. This type of staining is called “cored” stucco. The end result will be an area of straight stucco with a slight bend on the surface.
The most common areas that require the use of stucco in exterior wall restoration are those areas that are very heavily stained, especially on the interior of the exterior wall, as well as any area that has any type of wood trim. The paint used for these types of repairs can be very expensive, as it is expensive to apply. However, the final product will be an area that looks as if it was freshly poured on the exterior wall. In addition to this, if there is a large hole or crack in the wall that needs to be repaired, then it is usually possible to repair the damage by pouring the stucco over it. This method of staining is called “spill staining.”
Any type of repair in an exterior wall is best repaired with the assistance of an expert. Only an expert can determine what type of stucco repair is necessary to restore the area. When the problem is not as easy as it may seem, the homeowner should try to repair the damage as soon as possible, rather than waiting until the damage is much worse. The sooner the damage is fixed, the less chance there is of it causing further damage to the exterior wall. Any type of damage caused to a wall can be repaired by stucco or other types of exterior wall repair. Sometimes, the damage can be repaired for less than a hundred dollars, although the amount will depend on the damage itself and the area that needs repairing.
